These photos were taken shortly after the planting of this large country estate and corporate retreat. The idea was to plan and install walkways and gardens to warm the atmosphere and open areas and views that were previously rarely used or appreciated. The scale of the site necessitated the use of large stones and large slabs for steps and walkways. The plantings are also extensive and consist of tough, hardy selections of a wide range of perennials, grasses shrubs and trees. On the conservatory side of the house we had the task of rehabilitating an area with unattractive quarry slabs. We planted heavily so that shortly most of the bare angularity will be covered by upright and cascading plants.
